SCOTTY offers SatCom and streaming equipment for UAV´s of various weight categories. The hardware complies with official airworthiness standards and provides real-time beyond line-of-sight (BLOS) live video and duplex communication with uninterrupted global high-speed broadband coverage based on L-band technology. The equipment is especially designed for the customer’s platform, applications, and needs.
Through the use of light and compact SatCom equipment, SCOTTY’s UAV solutions provide the ability to go beyond the horizon. Although aircraft can rely on line-of-sight radio for take-off, landing, and when close to home, flying long distances or behind a hill requires SCOTTY’s UAV package in order to stay in touch. The SCOTTY UAV equipment, which combines SatCom, video compression, computer processing, and interfaces to sensors and onboard avionics, makes it possible to receive location info, monitor systems, transmit real time imagery, remotely control sensors, transmit commands, and update waypoints. Furthermore, because the UAV package is customized, users can work with SCOTTY to define the most suitable SatCom hardware, bandwidth, antenna options, and ground infrastructure. All transmissions can be made into the standard Internet or a VPN which is AES256 encrypted. And if the UAV is too small for a SatCom antenna, SCOTTY can provide roving repeater stations on the ground for beyond line-of-sight access back to headquarters.
A typical UAV setup comprises of an omnidirectional SatCom antenna system, SatCom modem, and SCOTTY video compression unit with computer processor. Cabling, interfacing, and other equipment is then defined depending on the application, the equipment already onboard, size and weight restrictions. SCOTTY helps install, test, and recertify the platform and provides full mission support. On the ground, SCOTTY can help design a mobile control center or install equipment into briefing rooms, offices, etc.
